It is bordered to the south to the Amalfi coast and the east by the valley of the Sarno; is located between the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno, falls within the province of Naples and is rich in areas famous for their historical and natural beauties.
All places of the peninsula have an ancient and well-established tourist destination and are known around the world.
The territory is completely crossed the mountains of Lattari, which descending to the sea end in the town of Punta Campanella.
In front of Punta Campanella, a few nautical miles, is the island of Capri was once attached to the Sorrento peninsula and currently it is an ideal continuation.
The towns of Sorrento Peninsula on the Neapolitan side are crossed by Highway 145 Sorrento and Salerno side the towns are connected by the Coast Highway 163.
The two are the only two state highways that provide connections between municipalities in the area and between the two sides of the peninsula.
Almost all of the common side of Naples or the towns of Sorrento Peninsula are served by the Circumvesuviana rail service, for Positano and Amalfisi are during the summer season the services of the Metro del Mare.
